City of Gold Coast Elections 16 March 2024
In the course of the coming weeks councillor and mayoral candidates will be seeking to influence your vote at the 16 March Local Government election. To help in determining who is most suitable the Community Alliance has sent proforma questionnaires to all Divisional and Mayoral candidates.
-
We consider the decisions made by our elected Councillors and Mayor have a huge influence on how residents work, live, and play and the legacy left to future generations and it is essential that voters have the opportunity to gain deeper insights into the people who seek to represent them.
Gold Coast City is facing many challenges as the population continues to grow and the residents need to know that aspiring councillors are up to meeting these challenges.
Our questionnaire focuses on better management of city growth/planning, better public transport for the whole of the city not just the coastal corridor, potential privatisation of public land and assets, investment of ratepayer funds, and importantly how the candidate proposes to deliver meaningful community engagement that places residents at the centre of their decision-making and voting in Council.
Community Alliance is publishing candidate responses to our questionnaire verbatim on this page from February 2024 so that voters can judge for themselves how the candidates measure up in their Division and for the city as a whole. We encourage you to share a link to this page and our facebook page with friends and neighbours within the city.
The questionnaire responses will appear below in divisional order as each is updated.
